Category Archives: Spring

So as we were standing there debating whether or not to purchase these solar lights for our yard an older gentleman walks up and starts loading boxes of these lamps into his cart. He said, “these are normally $70-$80 a set. You should get them.”
So of coarse we grabbed a box, bought them home, and started to take the lamps out of the box. These lights are so big we might be able to make a small runway out of them.
Good deal. Good lights. Bright yard at night.

Great Vaca…

This has been a super busy and fun spring break so far. Road trip one was to Angel Fire, NM. Driving to NM on Friday afternoon was a very long drive. Tulsa to Oklahoma city and then to Amarillo and onto Angel Fire. A 9 hour drive, of course we drove straight through. As my dad would say “we don’t let any grass grow under our feet.”
For the last week of the snow season in New Mexico, there was good snow on the mountain and more snow falling the entire time we were there.
I love snow skiing. I am going to have to try snow boarding the next time we go.

I think there about 8 restaurants in Angel Fire. I think we found the good ones. My favorite was the Roasted Clove. This was the best meal we had the entire time we were there. Monday night is their burger night. Filet migion, ground sirloin steak, guacamole, carmelized onions, well apparently I could just go on and on about this meal. They make their own spicy vinegarêtre, which might have been the best dressing that I have ever eaten.

It was sad yesterday when we left to come back to Oklahoma. It was snowing. This snow was the most beautiful snow I have ever seen. We got to use the four wheel drive in the new pickup.

I like it that 8 inches of snow doesn’t shut down communities in New Mexico and Colorado.

Day one of snow skiing was successful.

Skiing lesson went well!

We went to the top of the mountain and the backside of the mountain.

I can probably count on one, maybe two hands how many times I fell down. Mike didn’t fall, not even once.

I even successfully made it down a BLUE slope.

This has been a great trip so far and we still have three days! We are both tired and trying to prevent ourselves from being sore. I don’t know if my legs have gotten this much of a workout in quite some time.
Couples getaways are the greatest.

I have been waiting since early April for these flowers to bloom. It bloomed mid-morning today, and Mike sent me a picture of it to brighten my day. These are my favorite flowers ever. I am so glad that I finally have a garden that have these beautiful flowers in it.

Signs of life

I have felt like there have been no signs of life for the longest time. Study, study, study, go to school that is all. Life has made me happier here lately though, I have a study carrel and I definitely get a ton of studying done when I am there, but it has been a sign here lately that I can actually study at home with my ear plugs in, sit in my office, and actually learn something.  This was one signs that surely life is going to get better where I do not have to spend all of my time at school studying.

Second sign of life was an actual real sign of life from the outside world, well the plant world that is. Mike planted some lilly bulbs in our flower garden at the end of March and we where neither one sure if they would grow. Well he has worked super hard on getting the yard to start growing grass, getting all of the leaves racked out of it, and watering the hopefully plants and grass.

Well yesterday on one of my study breaks he was out in the front yard and sure enough these beautiful blades from the lilly plants have started to come up in the garden and beside the house. The grass blades are starting to grow too. The flowers and the grass are going to be beautiful and its all because of the hard work that went in to it. These beautiful blades have officially brought spring into my life.

The sun is shining day to day now, it is warming up outside, and the semester is winding down, well with a ton of test. I love spring and summer time, it is a time for grilling, gathering, and being at the lake. Even though I have to take a book with me this summer it is going to be an amazing summer filled with the love of my life, the greatest friends, and hopefully some amazing adventures. Thank you spring for showing your face.
