realized this today….

I realized this today: It has almost been three years since Mike and I got married, and I have procrastinated in actually ordering pictures or an album from our wedding photographer. I have the disc with all of the pictures on it, so I have some prints from the wedding, my parents, and in-laws have pictures too. We still have a huge credit that came with our package to order pictures or an album.

New goal before spring break: pick out what album and pictures I need to order over spring break. Have album or some beautiful photograph from the wedding for our 3rd anniversary.

Some of my favorites!

Best photographers:  Colorband PhotoArtisans, thank you Roy & Jamie for such great photographs and letting me be a procrastinator on ordering our wedding pictures.

MOM turning 50

1962: This was the year that my mother was born. On January 19th of this month she will be celebrating her birthday, the big 5-0! We had little celebration last week for her since she will be someplace a lot more fun and warm than Ponca City, OK.  We had a great turn out and I appreciate and I know that she appreciates everyone coming over to celebrate her birthday with her.

the moon.

Papa please get the moon for me. This was the book that Mike and I got my almost 2 year old cousin Spencer for Christmas. She had the greatest expression when she opened the present. “The MOON!” as she pointed at the cover. Then she realized that the book’s pages opened bigger than the book itself. Big ladders, a big full moon, a crescent moon, and a talking moon, what more could a little girl that loves the moon ask for! This might have been one of the best moments of my Christmas weekend. Even though it was just a little book, Spencer’s face and her little voice being so excited was one of the cutest and sweetest things ever.

somewhere

So I listen to lots of Pandora radio while studying or I have earplugs in my ears. Really anything that works to keep other peoples voices out and any other distracting noises. Well almost every day I hear this song:

This song makes me so happy. It makes me think of my wedding day, my husband, and our journey to somewhere over the rainbow together. This version of somewhere over the rainbow was played at our wedding with the slideshow that my father in law made for us. What a great song to put to your child and new daughter in laws wedding day, a day that we will remember for the rest of our lives. One day we will be somewhere over the rainbow together and for now we will just enjoy the journey to it.

Making Someone’s Day

It has been a long time since I have been told that I made someone’s day. Well after a lot of thought and help from the husband I finally decided on what I was going to get my grandmother for her birthday, which is April 5th. Oh and if you haven’t figured it out yet, my grandmother is one of the most important people and most wonderful woman in my life.
Over the past months, well since school started, I have fallen in love with the Pioneer woman cookbook and now her love story and I can’t wait for her children’s book to come out so that I can buy it for my niece, well she’s not really my niece but she is the closest thing that I have got.
So back to what I was talking about. Mike helped me decide that since my grandmother really enjoys reading that I should by her the Pioneer Woman’s book “Black Heels to Tractor Wheels”. So since I live a pretty good distance away from home and can’t make it home for birthday parties anymore, I got on amazon and purchased the book, as well had it gift wrapped.
I wasn’t expecting it to get to her until later this week since it was two day shipping and I ordered in the middle of the day yesterday. Well I talked to her this evening on my way home from studying and she told me that she got a really great surprise in the mail this afternoon.
My grandma said, “When the UPS man delivered the package I was very confused because I hadn’t ordered anything.” So she brought it in the house and opened the package to find a nice card from her granddaughter and grandson. She went on to tell me that she had just finished a book this afternoon and how wonderful it was that she had a new one to start reading tomorrow, especially since the weather outside hasn’t been very nice. She just had so much joy in her voice and such surprise that I would send her a present in the mail. Well I have only gotten to read a few chapters of the book and I think it is quite excellent. She loves books and she loves reading true love stories. Oh! and to make things better come to find out my grandfather know’s the family that the book is about. It never crossed my mind that since Pawhuska, OK is so close to Ponca City, OK that my grandfather would have done some work over the years for that family.
I am so glad that I could put a smile on my grandmother’s face, give her an early birthday present, and give her something to start doing tomorrow. She is a special lady, that maybe I can get her addicted to the pioneer woman and all of her amazing blogs, stories, and cookbooks.

Falling apart

Humpty dumpty sat on a wall,
humpty dumpty had a great fall,
all the kings horses and all the kings men tried to put humpty back together again.

I feel that we all fall at one point in life.
Remember you are here doing what you are suppose to be doing.
Things will be hard. Things are hard. Things will get better and get worse.
Light at the end of the tunnel is very dim right now, but everyday it gets a little brighter.
Thank goodness we have each other to put each other back together again and to not let each other fall.
I will get through, you will get through, with blood, sweat, and tears, plus laughter and extreme excitement and extreme exhaustion.

We are all going to be okay!
We are all going to be okay!
Mike, Haley, Jacob, Natalie, Brooke, Barry Danielle,
thank you for being second family,

thank you for being there when I have fallen apart

and I will always be here to pick you up if/when you fall apart

its hard but we are going to be awesome!

awesomeness awaits us!
watch out world!
are you ready?
